Active ingredient: losartan

No systematic studies are available, controlled and appropriate about the effect of alcohol in patients receiving losartan. Limited literature available suggests that alcohol in moderate amounts does not significantly influence on treatment with losartan, although, depending on the nature of the condition, it can do about the disease.

Losartan is preferentially metabolized by CYP2C9. Evidence suggests that the metabolism of this drug and other CYP2C9 substrates can be variably induced by alcohol, carbamazepine and phenobarbital. [1]

However, an analysis of the LIFE study finds no significant clinical interactions of alcohol and losartan. Moderate alcohol consumption does not change the risk reduction of stroke in high-risk hypertensive patients [2].
