The pharmacokinetic characteristics of this drug make it can be excreted in an appreciable amount in milk and accumulate in the infant, due to its low degree of binding to plasma proteins (30%), renal elimination (50%) and a relatively long half life.
Since there are insufficient published observations on its use during breastfeeding, is better to use an alternative drug.
Warning of the manufacturer:
It is not known whether bisoprolol is excreted in human milk. Therefore, breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment with bisoprolol.
