The absorption of orally clotrimazole is negligible and is not likely to cause adverse reaction in the infant, even if it is applied locally to the nipples, but it seems reasonable to remove excess cream on these before starting to breastfeeding.

There are no published observations about its possible influence on the infant or lactation.

Warning of the manufacturer:

The manufacturer makes no mention of the use of clotrimazole during lactation.
