There are very few reports in the literature regarding the use of this oral antidiabetic during breastfeeding, although available data suggest that there is a low transfer of the drug to the infant.
As in all cases of diabetic mothers treated with oral antidiabetic drugs, should be closely monitored blood glucose levels in infants.
In this case, it is preferable to use another drug best known that glipizide.
Warning of the manufacturer:
Although it is not known whether glipizide is excreted in human milk, other sulfonylureas are excreted by breast milk, so the glipizide is contraindicated during breastfeeding.
