There is not published clinical experience on the use of loxapine during breastfeeding, so it is preferable to replace this antipsychotic to another drug with similar properties.

Warning of the manufacturer:

It is unknown the extent of removal of loxapine and its metabolites in breast milk. However, it has been shown excretion in milk secretion of this substance in experimental animals. By this account, avoid the use of loxapine in lactating women if clinically possible.
