Recommendations

There is no enough clinical experience to ensure the safety of mefenamic acid in usual cases of administration of this substance to the nursing mother, but neither were published cases of adverse effects on the infant or breastfeeding.

It seems, therefore, advisable to replace this by another anti-inflammatory drugbest documented, but there seems no sufficient reason to discontinue breastfeeding if the medication is deemed necessary.

Warning of the manufacturer:

Traces can be found of this drug in breast milk, which can be transmitted to the baby. Therefore, this medication should not be taken by nursing mothers.
