The limited information available suggests that at usual maternal doses (equal to or less than 24 mg), the drug transfer into milk is low and the risk to the infant too. Not appear to have adverse effects reported in infants exposed to the drug through breast milk, although this claim is based on few observations.

In some reported cases, there have been drug concentrations in milk between 2 and 3.2 mcg / L, making the authors conclude that a breastfed baby could receive 0.1% of the weight-adjusted maternal dose.

Warning of the manufacturer:

Safe use of perphenazine during lactation has not been established; therefore, in administering the drug to nursing mothers, the possible benefits must be weighed against the possible hazards to mother and child.
