Recommendations

There are not enough published observations about the possible influence of thiothixene on infants whose mothers received the drug while breastfeeding, so it is preferable to use other antipsychotics. This substance can cause galactorrhea.

Warning of the manufacturer:

Nursing mothers should not take thiothixene, because small amounts will pass into breast milk and be ingested by the baby. If stopping the antipsychotic is not an alternative, breastfeeding should not be started or should be discontinued.
