This medication belongs to the group of medicines called oral anti-diabetics, reducing blood glucose to normal in patients with adult-onset diabetes.

Do not use glimepiride

If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to glimepiride, other sulfonylureas, other sulfonamides or any of the other ingredients of the medicinal product prescribed to you. If you think may be allergic, ask your doctor.

Allergy symptoms may include:

- Asthma attacks with shortness of breath, audible wheezing or rapid breathing.
- More or less sudden swelling of the face, lips, tongue or elsewhere in the body. It is especially critical if it affects the vocal cords.

If you take glimepiride with the following drugs may appear hypoglycemia:

- Anti-inflammatory drugs (phenylbutazone, azapropazone, and oxyphenbutazone; salicylates and p-aminosalicylic acid)

- Anabolic steroids and male sex hormones

Blood disorders:

Rarely you may suffer fever, sore throat, hemorrhages of skin and mucous membranes, marked pallor and to present changes in the blood, as a reduction of red and/or white blood cells, which may be indicative of blood disorders (thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, erythrocytopenia, granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia and pancytopenia) and are detectable by routine checks which likely will be doing to you.
