Indications and usage     

Mebendazole belongs to the group of anti-parasitic drugs. It is a broad spectrum anthelmintic, having a larvicidal and ovicidal action. Its digestive absorption is low (between 5 and 10%), but enough to have larvicidal action. This low level of absorption favors its clinical tolerance.

Mebendazole is indicated for the treatment of intestinal parasites, both simple and mixed: Oxyuriasis, Ascariasis, Trichuriasis, and Anquilomiasis.

In addition to mebendazole, this medicine contains microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, talc, corn starch, sodium saccharin, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium lauryl sulfate, orange essence and orange yellow sunset (E-110). The formulation in suspension (100 mg = 5 ml) contains 500 mg of sucrose per 5 ml.

This drug in tablets contains yellow-orange sunset (E-110) as an excipient. It can cause allergic reactions, including asthma, particularly in patients allergic to acetylsalicylic acid.

Before taking the drug     

Do not use mebendazole

If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance mebendazole or any of the other ingredients of the medicinal product prescribed to you. If you think you may be allergic, ask your doctor.

Allergy symptoms may include:

- Asthma attacks with shortness of breath, audible wheezing or rapid breathing.

Two tablets or 10 ml suspension a day, in two doses, morning and evening, for three consecutive days. If the parasitic disease has not disappeared within three weeks, it is recommended to repeat treatment.

Although the maximum recommended treatment duration is limited to three days, in patients treated with massive doses for periods of time long, ccasionally have been reported reversible changes in liver function, hepatitis, and neutropenia.
