The active ingredient Valsartan belongs to a group of drugs known as antagonists of angiotensin II receptor (ARBs), which help to control high blood pressure. Angiotensin II is a substance that causes blood vessels to constrict, causing an increase in blood pressure. Valsartan works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II. As a result, the blood vessels relax and blood pressure decreases .

This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure. Arterial hypertension increases the workload of the heart and arteries; if it persists for a long time can damage blood vessels in the brain, heart and kidneys and can lead to stroke, heart failure or kidney failure. High blood pressure increases the risk of heart attack. The decrease in blood pressure to normal reduces the risk of these disorders.

Valsartan is used to treat patients with a recent heart attack (myocardial infarction) (12 hours-10 days).

It is also used for treat symptomatic heart failure when can not be used ACE inhibitors (medicines to treat heart failure). However, valsartan can be used in conjunction with ACE inhibitors when beta blockers can not be used (another medication to treat heart failure).

Heart failure is associated with shortness of breath and swelling of the feet and legs by fluid retention. Heart failure means the heart muscle can not pump blood strongly enough to supply all the blood needed for the body.

Allergy symptoms may include:

- Asthma attacks with shortness of breath, audible wheezing or rapid breathing.
- More or less sudden swelling of face, lips, tongue or elsewhere in the body. It is especially critical if it affects the vocal cords.

- Anaphylactic shock (loss of consciousness, paleness, sweating, etc.).

Nor you should take this medicine:

- During the last 6 months of pregnancy or If you are breastfeeding,

Take special care with valsartan

- If you suffer from kidney or liver.
