Indications and usage      ▲

The active ingredient betahistine belongs to a group of medicines called antivertiginous drugs.

This substance is used for the treatment of Meniere's syndrome, a condition that is characterized by the following symptoms: dizziness, accompanied by nausea and vomiting, hearing loss and tinnitus (sensation of noise in the ear).

Tablets:

Besides the active ingredient betahistine dihydrochloride (INN), also contains microcrystalline cellulose, mannitol, citric acid monohydrate, anhydrous colloidal silica, and talc.

Oral drops:

(1 ml = 20 drops = 8 mg betahistine dihydrochloride; As excipients, also 96° ethyl alcohol, 5% w/v; Sodium saccharin; Methyl para-hydroxybenzoate (E 218); Propyl para-hydroxybenzoate (E 216), deionized water and chocolate aroma.

This medicine in its presentation in solution contains 5% ethyl alcohol 96° in the final volume. Each mL contains 0.04 g of ethyl alcohol 96º which may constitute a risk in children, pregnant women, and patients with liver disease, epilepsy, brain damage or some injuries. Also, ethyl alcohol can change or enhance the effect of other drugs.

Do not use betahistine

If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of the medicinal product prescribed to you. If you think you may be allergic, ask your doctor.

Allergy symptoms may include:

- Asthma attacks with shortness of breath, audible wheezing or rapid breathing.
- More or less sudden swelling of the face, lips, tongue or elsewhere in the body. It is especially critical if it affects the vocal cords.
- Hives, itching, rash
- Anaphylactic shock (loss of consciousness, paleness, sweating, etc.).

Also, you should not take this medicine:

If you suffer a disease called pheochromocytoma or have a stomach ulcer.
